Installation Steps for Corn Seeder Planter
The installation of a corn seeder planter is a crucial step in ensuring efficient and effective planting of corn and sorghum crops. Follow these detailed steps to properly attach the seeder to your tractor:
1. Preparation and Alignment
Before beginning the installation process, park the tractor on level ground and engage the parking brake. Position the corn seeder behind the tractor in the desired mounting location. Align the lower hitch arms of the seeder with the tractor’s 3-point hitch for proper attachment.
2. Attachment of Lower Hitch Arms
Lower the tractor’s 3-point hitch arms to match the height of the seeder’s hitch points. Securely attach the seeder’s lower hitch arms to the tractor’s 3-point hitch pins using linchpins or hitch locking mechanisms. Ensure a tight and secure connection to prevent detachment during operation.
3. Connecting the PTO Shaft
Locate the PTO shaft on the seeder and the corresponding PTO output shaft on the tractor. Align the splined ends of the shafts for proper engagement. Slide the PTO shaft onto the tractor’s output shaft and secure the connection using the provided safety locking collar or pin.
4. Adjusting Hitch and Shaft Alignment
Double-check the alignment of the hitch points and PTO shaft to ensure they are straight and properly aligned. Avoid excessive angles or bends in the PTO shaft to prevent vibration or damage during operation. Adjust the hitch height as needed for proper alignment.
5. Securing Fasteners and Connections
Tighten all hitch connections, PTO shaft connections, and fasteners securely to prevent loosening during field operation. Verify that all locking mechanisms are engaged and in place to ensure safe and efficient operation of the corn seeder planter.

6. Final Checks and Testing
Start the tractor engine and engage the PTO to test the rotation of the corn seeder components. Monitor for any unusual noises, vibrations, or malfunctions that may indicate installation issues. Adjust seed metering rates and operational parameters as needed for optimal planting.
